Chasing a Bigger Dream

Moving to Copenhagen was as much about personal growth as professional opportunity. Drawn by Denmark’s biotech dynamism, this passionate French embraced a new city, a new culture, and a pivotal role in a global mission to improve health outcomes.

“Relocating to the City of Spires was a deliberate choice,” she shares. “I wanted to grow both personally and professionally, and the city’s biotech and genomics industries offered the perfect environment for impactful work.”

With a strong biology background, including a bachelor’s in biochemical and biological analyses followed by a master’s in health biology, Jeanne felt ready to enter the genomic sequencing field.

As a core member of the BGI Genomics Denmark sequencing team, Jeanne performs molecular biology experiments that support the lab’s high-quality genomic outputs. Her typical day includes preparing DNA libraries, conducting quality control, and collaborating with data analysts to ensure results meet rigorous standards. Key projects include transformative products like NIFTY ® Test and COLOTECT®, which help redefine early disease detection.

“NGS is not just a tool; it’s a revolution in healthcare,” she says. “Every sequencing run contributes to saving lives, making the work deeply fulfilling.”

As genomic science evolves, this young lady sees boundless potential for NGS to change lives, particularly through its integration with AI and big data. These advancements promise to make diagnostics faster, more precise, and more accessible. From cancer detection to personalized medicine, she believes the impact will be profound. “We’ve only scratched the surface,” she reflects. “Genomics is set to revolutionize everyday healthcare in ways we can barely imagine.”

Bringing Science Down to Earth

Beyond her daily work in the lab, Jeanne’s role at BGI Genomics has allowed her to explore creative ways of connecting with people about the importance of healthcare innovation. Taking part in the COLOTECT® video campaign stands out as a highlight. “It was such a fun and unique experience,” she shares. “Cancer screening is a serious topic, but the humor made it approachable and relatable. I’ve always enjoyed team projects, and the supportive atmosphere on set made it easy to feel comfortable and deliver the message.”

Jeanne’s passion for biotechnology extends to inspiring others to join the field. For those considering a career in the industry, she has some simple but powerful advice: “Dive in and learn continuously. Genomics evolves rapidly, so staying curious and adaptable is key.”

She stresses the importance of building a strong foundation in molecular biology and data analysis, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and embracing the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies like NGS. “Most importantly, stay passionate about learning. The potential to make a real difference in people’s lives through biotech is huge.”

Beyond her professional contributions, the French-born technician has embraced life in Copenhagen. She enjoys the city’s balance of vibrancy and calm, spending time at places like "Studenterhuset," a multicultural hub where she connects with the city’s diverse community. Staying active at the gym and exploring Copenhagen’s parks also keep her energized for the challenges of her work.
